Le barrage Hoover / Hoover Dam

Hoover Dam
Hoover Dam
Hoover Dam

Since 9/11, very strict security controls must be passed before approaching the Dam. It is not allowed to have more luggage than a small hand bag. The bus must stop at control point and a police officer quickly examines the luggage before letting us carry on our road. Later, we will have to pass by a metal detector while our bags pass to x-rays These precautions are justified, because the dam and its reservoir, the lake Mead, are a significant source of water and electricity for Nevada and Arizona. Moreover, there is enough water to flood a good part of the area.

My French is poor but got the drift of things...glad that you got to see the dam...wonderous engineering considering when it was built. Mon 29-Dec-2003 12:54

Yes, it's a wonderful place. Between 15,000 and 21,000 workers were necessary to build it. It would cost billions to do it today It was dam impressive. Wed 31-Dec-2003 18:28
